Our overall health is not only determined by what we put into our bodies, but also what we put onto our skin. Using skincare products that are filled with toxins and chemicals can be harmful for us and have the same effect on our skin eating bad food has to your body. As our skin is the biggest organ, it is safe to say that the more natural the products are, the better it is for us as well as the environment.
Any product we put onto our skin our skin absorbs, it takes all the nutrients from the product and uses it to restore, repair and hydrate. This means that when chemicals and toxins are added into your skincare, they can cause the opposite effect when absorbed into the skin they can cause damage to the skin along with irritation, redness and pain. Some ingredients found in face washes, sunscreens and more have been linked to bodily issues such as irritation and hormonal disruptions, to consequences as bad as cancers.
Unfortunately, the skincare industry is highly unregulated when it comes to the adding of chemicals and toxins in our skincare. Many of the larger scale industrial skincare tend to contain synthetic chemical or fragrances that have been proven to be the cause of skin irritants. Due to the irregularity of the industry skincare companies are able to get away with using unsafe ingredients throughout their products, until it can be proven the product causes harm. Without special care taken by companies to ensure there are no harmful toxins in their products, it is possible for something to slip under the radar that can cause some serious damage.
