Vegan Skincare: 101

Vegan beauty is the biggest buzzword in the beauty industry today. Effective, conscious skincare that is friendly to animals and the environment? Yes, please.

If you’re not sure about what exactly is vegan skincare or how it’s better for the skin, don’t worry. We break it down for you.

What is vegan beauty?

As more and more people adopt healthy lifestyles, they are also looking to find ways to make their beauty routine healthier and safer for themselves and for the environment. Vegan beauty, in a nutshell, is skincare products that have no animal testing (i.e. cruelty-free) and excludes animal ingredients, animal by-products or animal-derived products. It excludes ingredients such as beeswax, lanolin, and honey.

Why did we decide to go vegan?

We’ve decided to make the switch to vegan products as a commitment to delivering the best of clean beauty skincare.

Is vegan beauty better than non-vegan beauty?

Vegan beauty has someone of a bad rep for being seen as not nearly as effective as non-vegan skincare. With vegan skincare still relatively new to the beauty scene, there are still some misconceptions that vegan beauty is not as effective.

To clarify, vegan beauty is just as effective as non-vegan beauty. In the same mindset as eating vegan food is good for your health, applying vegan skincare is just as good for your skin.

As we absorb 60% of the products we apply to our skin, applying vegan skincare means you are applying products that are free from synthetic, preservatives, chemicals, and toxins. Applying toxic skincare can have long term negative effects to your skin. By switching to a vegan beauty routine, you can eliminate the amount of toxic chemicals your skin absorbs.

Vegan skincare is especially good for those with sensitive and acne-prone skin as some animal ingredients can be harsh and clog pores. Vegan ingredients are a lot more soothing and calming for the skin.

Our vegan skincare line is full of Vitamin A, C and E, natural oils such as jojoba oil and pure, potent botanicals such as Kakadu Plum, Noni, Finger Lime, Olive Squalane and many, many more.
